Development of an individual begins from his birth itself. At his first year of age, he develops his gross motor, fine motor, language and personal-social developments. When he becomes a toddler, he starts to develop his personality through his interactions with the peer-groups, elders, teachers and through the environment. Play is a good channel for children to develop his social activities. There are both in-door and out-door activities. In-door games mainly include fine-motor activities, where as, out-door games include gross-motor activities. Out-door games are possible only if the climate is fine and the parents become comfortable to let their children out to enjoy their out-door games.
Out-door activities include water plays, sand plays, activities based on nature exploring and so on. In water plays, they could be taught about water safety. The variety of water plays include bubble solutions, catching water balloon, ice-blocks, water-sprinkler, pretending car wash with soap and water, slipping and sliding, making toys out of papers such as paper-boats and so on. In sand plays children improve their fine motor skills and develop their eye-hand co-ordination. The different sand plays are treasure hunt, building castles, shifting and through filter and sandpit race. The nature exploring activities helps the children develop concepts of shape, texture and use of different objects. They get a chance to observe the appearances of different creatures, its mobility and surface. The different nature exploring activities such as plant caring, shadow tracing, attracting butterflies helps them to understand their nature and surroundings more deeply.
Outside activities helps children in developing their physical and mental control. Though, there are more idea oriented games, it encourages the child to think in different ways. This helps in developing his thinking ability. Thus, it becomes a part of their day to day life, which also provide them fun.
